Happy Birthday, USA!

Posted: Jul 17 2016

Even though Independence Day has been celebrated since the 18th century, it wasn’t a federal holiday until 1941.  We decided to have an old fashioned and low key 4th of July celebration this year, with a simple back yard barbecue, beer margaritas and a croquet tournament.

We had beer brats and lamp chops.  YUM!

Wouldn’t be the 4th without potato salad and corn on the cob.

It was a bit humid, so beer margaritas in the back yard were perfect.

Homemade peach pie with store bought vanilla ice cream.  YUM! YUM!  (that’s right a double yum)

Gina won the croquet tournament in a clean sweep.  (ok, Mr. Jones was tough competition, Bobby held his own, April last one out).

We ended the evening with a spectacular fire works display at the Evanston beach!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day celebration!
